ALIANZA LIMA – PERU: PASSION, HISTORY AND BLUE AND WHITE GLORY
Alianza Lima is more than just a club; it's a symbol of Peruvian identity. Founded in 1901, it's one of the country's most beloved and successful teams. In this article, we tell you its story, its most memorable titles, the legends who wore the blue and white jersey, and the coaches who left their mark. Ideal for fans who want to relive great moments and learn interesting facts about the club from La Victoria.
Origins and Founding of the Club
Alianza Lima was founded on February 15, 1901, under the name Sport Alianza, inspired by the "Alianza" stud farm of the Jockey Club. It was born in the district of La Victoria, a working-class neighborhood that has since become the cradle of the blue and white passion. Its Creole and popular identity has been a hallmark from the beginning, differentiating it from other more elitist clubs of the time such as Universitario or Sporting Cristal.
In its early years, the club stood out for having Afro-Peruvian players among its ranks, something revolutionary for the time. Over time, it established itself as one of the pillars of Peruvian football, participating in the development of the professional league since its beginnings in the 1930s. During the 1910s and 1920s, Alianza began to accumulate local titles. By the 1930s, with the professionalization of the championship, it had consolidated itself as a powerhouse. Its rivalry with Universitario was born in those years, giving rise to the most important derby in Peru. Every match between the two is a story of intense emotions and neighborhood pride.
