Defensor Sporting is synonymous with grit, youthful talent, and violet pride in Uruguay. Far removed from the Peñarol-Nacional rivalry, this club broke the hegemony of the giants and carved out a niche for itself through its beautiful football. Founded in Montevideo in 1913 and merged with Club Sporting in 1989, it has been a breeding ground for players who shone in Europe and has fielded memorable teams that left their mark on the Uruguayan league and international competitions. A story of rebellion and well-played football
Club Atlético Defensor was founded on March 15, 1913, in Montevideo, in the Punta Carretas neighborhood.
