From humble beginnings to professional player
Rodinei was born on January 29, 1992, in Tatuí, São Paulo state. His childhood was difficult: he worked as a can collector and baker to help support his family, and lived in very precarious conditions. But football was always his refuge and his dream.
Unlike other players, Rodinei didn't come through the ranks of major youth academies. He started at modest clubs like Videira Esporte Clube in Santa Catarina and later at Porto União. He signed his first professional contract with Avaí in 2011, where he combined football with informal jobs. In 2012, he was loaned to Marcílio Dias, where he began to gain playing time and visibility. But his big break came when he signed with Corinthians in 2013, although he never made his official debut. He was loaned to CRAC, then to Penapolense, and finally found his place at Ponte Preta, where he established himself as a starter. It was at Ponte Preta (2015) where he first showed his potential at the national level. His speed, physical power, and constant runs down the right flank caught the attention of several big clubs. Flamengo did not hesitate and signed him in 2016.
